Park Jung-hoon "Democratic Party Flirting with Special Prosecutor Law Reducing Toxic Clauses... No Defection Votes from People Power Party"
"Presidential Office Considering Prime Minister Replacement"
"Choo Kyung-ho, Joo Ho-young, Won Hee-ryong Mentioned"
The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to push for a revision of the 'Kim Geon-hee First Lady Special Prosecutor Act,' while Park Jeong-hoon, a member of the People Power Party, described it as "political flirting toward the Chinhan (Chinhan Dong-hoon) faction."
On the 12th, Park appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Flirting refers to mutual courting behavior between people of the opposite sex. It seems the Democratic Party is flirting with the Chinhan faction," adding, "But we (the Chinhan faction) cannot open the door to impeachment."
The Democratic Party plans to submit the revised special prosecutor bill concerning the First Lady Kim to the National Assembly plenary session on the 14th. The revision mainly grants the right to recommend the special prosecutor to a third party and narrows the scope of the special prosecutor's investigation to the so-called Myeong Tae-gyun gate, allegations of Kim's interference in candidate nominations, and election interference suspicions. This is interpreted as a strategy to remove toxic clauses and gain defecting votes within the People Power Party.
However, the Chinhan faction maintains that there will be no defecting votes. Park said, "Even if ruling party lawmakers have slightly different opinions, they cannot align with the opposition's intention to halt the presidential administration," emphasizing, "Also, the Han Dong-hoon faction sees no reason for a special prosecutor now, as the investigation into Myeong Tae-gyun has progressed and the possibility of detention has increased. The People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon's thoughts are similar."
He added, "Even if the opposition acts like that, there will ultimately be very few defecting votes this time as well," and "I think there might even be fewer than last time."
Regarding personnel reshuffles in the presidential office, the possibility of replacing the Prime Minister is being discussed.

Park said, "As candidates for Prime Minister, there are talks about Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, Representative Joo Ho-young, and former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong," adding, "Since ruling party politicians have had communication with the opposition, it is burdensome to oppose, and they have been relatively well vetted, so the possibility of approval is high. Therefore, there are currently talks about the possibility among ruling party politicians."
