President Im has recently been criticized for derogatory remarks about disabled people, demands for withdrawal of lawsuits in exchange for favors, and failing to achieve significant results amid ongoing medical-government conflicts lasting over 10 months.
According to KMA regulations, a no-confidence motion against the president can be initiated by at least one-quarter of voting members or one-third of the total delegates, and requires attendance of two-thirds of the total delegates and approval by two-thirds of the attending delegates to pass.
According to KMA bylaws, if the no-confidence motion passes, President Im will be immediately suspended from duty, and a by-election must be held within 60 days. The approximately two-month executive vacancy until a new president is elected through the by-election is expected to be filled by the special committee formed at the extraordinary general meeting.
