Busan City to Conduct '2024 Household and Housing Basic Survey' Starting from the 8th
Simultaneous Nationwide Survey from 8th to November 27th, All Residences and Households in Busan Except Some Apartments
Comprehensive Survey of Rooftop and (Semi)Basement Status, Basic and Administrative Data for Establishing Housing Support Policies for Vulnerable Groups
Busan City will conduct the ‘2024 Basic Household and Housing Survey’ targeting all dwellings and households in Busan, except for some apartments, for 20 days from the 8th to November 27th.
The ‘Basic Household and Housing Survey’ is conducted nationwide every five years simultaneously by the Statistics Korea (main agency) and the city (implementing agency) in cooperation.
It verifies information on all dwellings and households nationwide to accurately set the survey areas for the ‘Population and Housing Census’ and the ‘Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Census.’
The survey items consist of a total of 14 categories: 8 dwelling (building) unit items including address, type of dwelling, vacant houses, and whether it is a goshiwon or gositel; and 6 household unit items including the number and type of residential facilities, whether it is an agricultural or forestry household, and whether the household resides in an officetel.
Especially this year, a full survey of rooftop and (semi-)basement conditions will be conducted to provide basic data for establishing housing support policies for vulnerable groups and to improve the quality of the administrative data-based registration census in the housing sector.
Field investigators will verify 926,000 dwellings and 1,098,000 households on-site, excluding some apartments, and conduct face-to-face interviews with 382,000 of these households.
For households targeted for visits where face-to-face interviews are difficult, telephone surveys are also possible by requesting through the Statistics Korea call center (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.).
This year’s ‘Basic Household and Housing Survey’ is an important first step toward the successful implementation of the ‘2025 Population and Housing Census,’ which marks its 100th anniversary. The survey method has been improved to reduce the burden on citizens and allow convenient participation.
Apartments built between 5 and less than 30 years ago will have their survey items confirmed using administrative data and spatial information without on-site investigation.
An automatic content review function has been added to the electronic survey (CAPI) system using tablet PCs to make the survey easier and more accurate.
CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing) is a method of conducting one-on-one interviews using tablet PCs and similar devices.
For more information, detailed inquiries can be made through the Population and Housing Census website.
