‘Graduate School Specialized in Fine Dust Management’ Wins Award in Human Resource Development Field
National Pukyong University (Acting President Lee Min-hee) won the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award (Encouragement Award) in the human resource development category at the ‘2024 Industry-Academia Cooperation Best Practice Competition’.
At this competition, hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Research Foundation of Korea, National Pukyong University was recognized for the excellent case of the ‘Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Project’ (Project Director Professor Noh Young-min).

View original imageThe award ceremony for this competition was held on November 6 at BEXCO in Busan during the 2024 Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Expo.
National Pukyong University received high praise for its achievements through the Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Project, including the establishment of Korea’s first cutting-edge remote sensing equipment VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) education programs via virtuous cycle industry-academia cooperation, and the operation of practical industry-academia fine dust management master’s and doctoral track courses.
The Fine Dust Management Specialized Graduate School Project at National Pukyong University is a professional human resource development initiative operated since 2020 by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute to train master’s and doctoral level experts for fine dust reduction.
In particular, this project team has established Korea’s first real-time high-resolution fine dust monitoring scanning LiDAR observation system and VR and AR education systems for remote sensing equipment in graduate schools, demonstrating high expertise, technological capability, and educational and research capacity in the advanced remote sensing field, and has operated specialized track courses.

Additionally, through industry-academia cooperation and network formation with related companies, the project strengthens internships and field training for graduate students, fostering fine dust experts equipped with practical field skills.
