'Assaulting Police' Binggrae 3rd Generation President Kim Dong-hwan Fined 5 Million Won
Obstruction of Official Duties Charge
Kim Dong-hwan (41), the third-generation president of Binggrae Group, who was prosecuted for assaulting a police officer while intoxicated, was sentenced to a fine of 5 million won.
On the morning of the 7th, Judge Seong Jun-gyu of the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 10 sentenced Kim, who was charged with obstruction of official duties, to a fine of 5 million won. The court stated, "The charge of assaulting a police officer who responded to a 112 emergency call while intoxicated cannot be taken lightly," but also noted, "However, the defendant has shown remorse after the incident, and the police officers are seeking leniency for the defendant."
Kim was indicted for assaulting police officers who responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the morning of June 17 while he was intoxicated. He was caught in the act after hitting a police officer’s forearm and swinging his fist toward the officer’s face following an argument with a security guard.
Last month on the 15th, the prosecution requested a sentence of six months imprisonment with a one-year probation for Kim.
