'Hanguksawi' Larry Hogan, Senate Bid Unsuccessful
Former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, known as the 'Korean son-in-law,' failed in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat.
According to the Associated Press, on the 5th (local time), in the Maryland U.S. Senate election held alongside the U.S. presidential election, Republican candidate Hogan lost to Democratic candidate Angela Alsobrooks, the Prince George's County Executive.
Hogan, who is married to Korean-American Yumi Hogan and is referred to as the 'Korean son-in-law,' is considered a moderate or centrist within the Republican Party. In an interview after former President Trump was confirmed as the Republican presidential nominee in March, he stated that he would not vote for Trump.

With Hogan's defeat in the Senate race, Alsobrooks will become Maryland's first Black U.S. Senator and the state's second female U.S. Senator in history.
