Jongno-gu Selects and Rewards Outstanding Public Officials for Proactive Administration
5 Officials Including Jo Young-eun and Park Sang-gyu
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) selected and awarded five exemplary public officials for proactive administration in the first half of 2024.
The awardees include Jo Yeong-eun, administrative officer of the Social Welfare Division, who established the nation’s first Employment Competency Enhancement Center for the visually impaired; Park Su-jeong, administrative officer of the Road Division, who installed an AI brine spraying device on snow-prone routes; Im Song-hee, administrative officer of the Child and Youth Education Division, who built Cheongun Daycare Center in the forest of Inwangsan; Park Sang-gyu, administrative officer of the Cleaning Administration Division, who introduced Seoul’s first smart recycling experience vehicle; and Choi Hanna-rae, administrative officer of the Smart Administration Division, who developed the JongnoBOX, a temporary document file sharing platform.

View original imageJo Yeong-eun of the Social Welfare Division operates the Employment Competency Enhancement Center for the visually impaired, providing social function improvement education, vocational aptitude development, and training programs to support the economic independence of visually impaired individuals.
Park Su-jeong of the Road Division contributed to accident prevention caused by snowfall by installing a brine spraying device equipped with smart AI technology on snow-vulnerable routes. Im Song-hee of the Child and Youth Education Division continuously coordinated with related organizations to overcome administrative defects in construction procedures and successfully obtained the building permit for Cheongun Daycare Center.
Park Sang-gyu of the Cleaning Administration Division led community-based resource recycling promotion by introducing a smart recycling experience vehicle, deploying it at event sites to educate on proper waste separation methods, and integrating it with school education programs.
Choi Hanna-rae of the Smart Administration Division developed JongnoBOX, a temporary document file sharing platform, without budget allocation as part of efforts to create a paperless work environment and reduce carbon emissions.
Jongno-gu plans to provide various incentives to the selected exemplary public officials for proactive administration, including certificates, top-grade performance bonuses, a one-year reduction in the period for selection as a distinguished public official, special leave, and priority selection for overseas training.

District Mayor Jeong Munheon stated, “We selected outstanding public officials who proactively and creatively approached their work and took the lead in helping residents,” adding, “We hope they will continue to fiercely consider what is necessary to improve residents’ quality of life and realize Jongno Modern.”
