"We will ensure that the facilities within the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex, including the Small and Medium-sized Special Ship Support Center, are stably established to become the pride of Jinhae-gu as the hub of research and development in the southeastern region."
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, made this statement on the 4th at the completion ceremony of the Small and Medium-sized Special Ship Support Center held at the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex in Yeoja-dong, Jinhae-gu.
The completion ceremony was attended by about 200 people, including Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City, Yoo Myung-hyun, Director of the Industry Bureau of Gyeongsangnam-do, Heo Dong-won, Chairman of the Economic and Environmental Committee of the Gyeongsangnam-do Council, Lee Young-jong, Officer of the Shipbuilding and Offshore Plant Division of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, provincial and city council members, local residents, shipbuilders, and equipment industry representatives, adding luster to the event.

This facility is located in the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex, covering a site area of 10,608.9㎡ and a total floor area of 5,448.7㎡ across two buildings. Construction began in October 2022 and was completed in June this year. The total project cost amounted to 31.2 billion KRW.

In particular, the Special Ship Support Center is the first building completed within the Yeoja District of the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex, making it especially meaningful as it is expected to become a growth engine for the Jinhae area. Research facilities such as the 2nd Materials Research Institute, Advanced Warship Research Center, and Energy Park are scheduled to be sequentially established in the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex by 2027. Changwon City anticipates that the Jinhae Advanced Industrial Research Complex will serve as a foundation for advancing regional core industries and fostering future industries.
