Yangsan Youths Prove Their Skills by Sweeping the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Awards
2024 Korea Changwon Tintin Festival
Grand Prize, Excellence Award, and Awards in Music and Dance Categories
Rock band LIVE from Yangsan City Youth Center and dance club HOLIC from Soju Youth Culture House proudly elevated Yangsan’s status by winning the grand prize (Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award, 2 million KRW prize) in the music and dance categories respectively at the ‘2024 Korea! Changwon Teen Teen Festival’ held at Yongji Park in Changwon on the 2nd.
Additionally, dance teams HUSH and WISH from Yangsan City Youth Center received the excellence award (Gyeongnam Provincial Superintendent of Education Award, 1 million KRW prize) and a prize (Hangaram Cultural Foundation Chairman Award, 200,000 KRW prize) respectively in the dance category, sweeping the awards as all participating youth from Yangsan City achieved outstanding results.
It is very rare for one region to sweep the top awards, but this competition was judged through a blind review process regarding the teams’ affiliations and regions, ensuring a fair evaluation.
Out of 43 teams in the music category and 32 teams in the dance category participating in the preliminaries, 12 teams from each category (24 teams in total) advanced to the finals and performed on-site. Among them, all four youth teams from Yangsan won awards, proving the exceptional talent of Yangsan’s youth.
The representative youth of HOLIC said, “We practiced hard on weekends and after school, and receiving such a high award is very moving. I am very grateful to the members who worked hard together and to our parents who supported us. Above all, without the support from Soju Youth Culture House and Yangsan City, we would not have achieved such great results,” expressing their gratitude.
The parents of LIVE members who shared the award moment said, “We can see our child growing a lot and gaining confidence by performing on various stages through activities they love and achieving high results. We are very thankful to the members who lead and take care of each other, and deeply appreciate the support from Yangsan City and Yangsan City Youth Center.”
Kang Jeong-sook, Director of Women and Youth Affairs, said, “We are very proud that youth have expressed their dreams and passion on stage and achieved great results. Yangsan City will continue to actively support youth so they can demonstrate their talents.”
