Cho Won-jin, leader of the Our Republican Party, who was prosecuted for attempting to enter the National Assembly building to block the passage of the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office Establishment Act (the Corruption Investigation Office Act), was again sentenced to a fine in the second trial.
On the 1st, the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Appeal Division 3-3 (Chief Judge Yoo Hwan-woo) announced that on the 24th of last month, it sentenced Cho, who was indicted for aiding and abetting trespassing, to a fine of 5 million won, the same as in the first trial. On December 14 last year, the first trial court had also sentenced Cho to a fine of 5 million won.

Cho is accused of aiding and abetting participants who attempted to enter the main building of the National Assembly during a press conference opposing the Corruption Investigation Office Act held on December 13, 2019, where about 200 party members and supporters gathered. During this process, he was also investigated for committing violence against National Assembly security guards belonging to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency who were blocking entry to the main building.
