"Repeated Gift Card Fraud Involving '100,000 Won' Bills... 30s Male Sentenced to Prison"
A habitual fraudster who deceived people by selling gift certificates on secondhand trading applications (apps) was sentenced to imprisonment.
On the 2nd, Judge Kim Jae-eun of the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 13 Single Judge announced that he sentenced a 33-year-old man, Mr. A, who was tried on charges of fraud, to six months in prison.
Mr. A posted a message on a secondhand trading app stating that he was selling "100,000 won gift certificates," and lied to victims who contacted him, saying, "If you send the payment, I will send the gift certificates." Using this method, from February 1 to December 8 of last year, Mr. A swindled a total of 5,578,000 won from five victims.
It is known that Mr. A already has a criminal record for similar crimes, having been sentenced to two months and one year and six months in prison for fraud.

The court stated, "The defendant was sentenced to imprisonment for the same type of fraud and, about half a month after being released, began committing this internet goods fraud, which is highly blameworthy and the guilt is not light."
