Korea Citibank Takes Initiative in Inclusive Finance Including Environmental Protection
On the 1st, Citibank Korea announced that it held the ‘Personal Cup Usage Day’ and ‘Lobby Concert’ events at its headquarters in Jongno, Seoul the previous day, focusing on environmental protection and improving awareness of disabilities.
At the event venue, employees and citizens who brought personal cups were provided with free beverages, sharing the purpose of protecting the environment through small daily practices to reduce the use of disposable products. This event was planned by the Citibank Korea ESG Council and was held in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Hanbit Orchestra, with participation from employees, customers, and local community citizens.

View original imageAs the first financial institution to participate in the Seoul Gwanghwamun Eco Zone Companion Group, Citibank Korea has been strengthening the financial sector’s social responsibility for environmental protection. As part of these efforts, the bank is continuing the ‘Personal Cup Usage Day’ campaign this year, following last year.
The concurrently held ‘Lobby Concert’ was organized to improve awareness of disabilities and spread the values of inclusion and respect pursued by Citibank by inviting the visually impaired orchestra Hanbit Orchestra. About 100 employees and citizens participated in the concert held during lunchtime.

Um Kyung-sik, Executive Director and co-chair of the ESG Council, said, “This event was planned to practice Citi’s core values of inclusion and sustainability. We aim to participate in environmental protection through the use of personal cups and to spread positive awareness of disabilities and an inclusive culture through the lobby concert with the Hanbit Orchestra.” He added, “Going forward, Citibank Korea will continue to take the lead in creating a better society where everyone is respected and can grow together based on ESG values.”
