Pusan National University, Love for Hangul Blooming at Fingertips... Hosting the '1st PNU Handwriting Contest'

Busan National University Publishing Culture Center Selects Beautiful Korean Handwriting, Creates Moonchangbyeol and Saebyeokdeul Fonts

Held at Gaon Museum on Campus, Gathering Students from Busan, Yangsan, and Miryang Campuses Together

Busan National University (President Choi Jae-won) Publishing and Culture Center will hold the "1st PNU Handwriting Contest" for enrolled students on November 14th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the on-campus museum Gaon to widely promote the beauty of Hangul and facilitate communication among university members.

This contest was organized to spread the value of Hangul through the development and distribution of various Hangul fonts and to strengthen communication and harmony across campuses. It is open to all Busan National University students from the Busan, Miryang, and Yangsan campuses, regardless of nationality.

On the day of the handwriting contest, participants will write the first verse of the Busan National University school song, starting with "Geumjeongsan sanggisuge saebyeokbeol dakkano ni~," by hand on paper forms provided on-site.

Submitted works will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges composed of Busan National University professors based on expressiveness, creativity, aesthetic elements, and completeness. The winning entries will be announced on November 29th.

Awardees will receive certificates and a monetary prize, and based on the winning works, fonts will be created. The grand prize-winning font will be named "Munchangbyeol ○○che," and the excellence prize font "Saebyeokdeul ○○che," which will be used for university promotion and the popularization of Hangul.

Additionally, these fonts will be made publicly available for anyone to use.

The Busan National University Publishing and Culture Center (Director Choi Jin-ah, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature), established in 1983, contributes to academic and regional development by publishing various academic books, textbooks, and general interest books.
