Incheon TP Exhibits Plastic Bottle Cap 'Upcycling' Souvenirs at Incheon International Design Fair
Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP) will showcase a souvenir (hand acupressure device) made by upcycling 1 million discarded plastic bottle caps at the 'Incheon International Design Fair' held on the 31st.
The souvenir was created by reprocessing 1 million plastic bottle caps collected from the business site of Incheon Airport Operation Service Co., Ltd. at the Incheon Upcycle Eco Center, and developing the design together with professionals from the Incheon Design Support Center and the 14th group of Incheon Design Supporters students.
The souvenir is named 'Love Cycle,' symbolizing the hope that just as the single-use bottle caps are recycled and circulated, the blood circulation of people who strive to protect the environment will also flow well.

Additionally, a citizen experience booth will be operated where visitors can visually observe the resource recycling process of the bottle caps, which is themed as a resource circulation journey starting from the airport, and directly make and take home upcycled products.
An official from Incheon TP said, "Inspired by the fact that Love Cycle was created through cooperation among multiple institutions from the collection of bottle caps to resource recycling and design development, the design was made with a structure where seven acupressure pieces form one product."
Jang Hyun-gi, CEO of Design Booster and an advisory committee member for upcycled design development, stated, "The idea of utilizing runners as connecting parts of the acupressure device to ensure no material is wasted during the injection molding process is a precedent for resource recycling."
