The county assumed a disaster situation involving fire and forest fire outbreaks and carried out a large-scale joint drill involving civilian, government, and military personnel.
About 250 officials from 15 related organizations and groups, including Gijang-gun, Gijang Fire Station, and Gijang Police Station, participated in the drill. Available personnel and equipment such as ▲forest fire suppression helicopters ▲forest fire suppression vehicles ▲fire pump trucks ▲ambulances ▲recovery vehicles from related organizations (KT, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Gas Safety Corporation, etc.) were fully mobilized, making the drill resemble an actual disaster situation.
The county conducted discussion-based training and on-site practical training in real time according to each stage of the disaster occurrence, thoroughly inspecting the overall disaster response situation. They confirmed initial response and coping abilities according to the progression of the fire, including ▲evacuation of residents due to large-scale fires and forest fires ▲life rescue ▲restoration of infrastructure ▲recovery of affected areas, and checked the division of roles and cooperation system among related organizations throughout the entire disaster recovery process.
In particular, this on-site training included an unannounced activation drill of the emergency rescue control team by Gijang Fire Station and a multi-casualty ambulance response drill, which served as an opportunity to enhance initial on-site response capabilities in case of emergencies. Additionally, about 200 local residents, including members of the Gijang-gun Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps, Gijang-gun Volunteer Center, and Gijang Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade, directly participated in the drill, providing an opportunity to experience disaster situations and cultivate disaster response capabilities.
