Gijang-gun, Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning and Culture Festival... Continuing the Reputation as Busan's Best Festival
From the 18th to the 20th, Diverse Contents Including Jeonggwan Jawangcheon, Ecological Experience, and Book Concert Presented
Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) recently announced on the 24th that the ‘Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning and Culture Festival’ concluded after a three-day schedule at Jwagwangcheon in Jeonggwan-eup.
This festival was organized to promote the value of Jwagwangcheon, a local landmark, and to realize an educational and cultural city as well as a family-friendly city.
With the distinctive theme of ‘learning and culture’ expressed through various festival contents, it has established itself as a representative regional festival attracting visitors not only from local residents but also from neighboring areas of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam.
This year’s festival was held from the 18th to the 20th at Jeonggwan Central Park, Witgol Park, and Gumojeong Park. Despite rainy weather, many visitors attended, showcasing its status as the ‘2024 Busan City Designated Best Festival.’
Marking the 10th anniversary of the festival, an even richer program was offered. These included ▲science and English experience events ▲youth gathering (Dalbam Dalcho) ▲Jwagwangcheon ecological experience ▲book concert ▲Jeonggwan Silver Festival (Youth Era) ▲Gijang family walking contest ▲street parade ▲literary events ▲lifelong learning & resident autonomy expo ▲flower festival ▲Jeonggwan sharing free market, among various performances and events that drew high enthusiasm from participants.
Additionally, ecological experience booths were set up along the Jwagwangcheon stream, and an ecological experience group was recruited and operated starting a week before the festival, providing local children with opportunities to experience ecology and raising awareness of Jwagwangcheon’s value. A book concert with local authors was also arranged, allowing participants to enjoy diverse learning and cultural content.
To create a zero-waste festival, the festival organizing committee and Jeonggwan Saemaeul Association took the lead by installing permanent waste sorting stations at the three festival sites and conducting a plogging (picking up trash while jogging) campaign, ensuring a clean and eco-friendly festival.
