Jeonnam Student Education Center, Graduation Ceremony of the Reading Humanities School 'Sechaekrye'
"Hope for Nobel Laureates Following Han River Writers"
Jeonnam Student Education Center announced on the 24th that it will hold the ‘2024 Jeonnam Reading Humanities School Graduation Ceremony’ on the 29th, with 171 elementary, middle, and high school students attending.
The graduation ceremony will be held with the participation of Superintendent Kim Dae-jung, parents, and instructors, incorporating the traditional Sechaekrye (洗冊禮) ritual. Graduates will wear Sungkyunkwan Confucian scholar robes and headgear, showing respect as disciples and expressing gratitude for their teachers' guidance, while teachers will wear Simui robes and perform Danjasusin (短資受信), a ritual of bestowing characters, to wish for the academic growth of their students.

Kim Chan-jung, director of the Jeonnam Student Education Center, said, “Graduates of the Reading Humanities School will create new values based on the experiences and achievements gained through reading activities,” and added, “I hope that by cultivating humanities capabilities, a Nobel Prize winner following author Han Kang will emerge from Jeonnam.”
