Interim Report Meeting on Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant Relocation Service
A public forum for residents to discuss the development direction of the Gwangju Songjeong Station area will be held.
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju announced that on November 4th at 2 PM, it plans to hold a resident public forum at the Yunsangwon Hall in the district office, coinciding with the interim report meeting on the feasibility verification service for the relocation of Kumho Tire's Gwangju factory. The forum will bring together local residents, related organizations, and experts.
Since June, Gwangsan-gu has been conducting a research service to verify the feasibility of relocating Kumho Tire's Gwangju factory and to draw a future blueprint for the Gwangju Songjeong Station area that citizens desire. Additionally, investigations are underway on changes in the urban environment over the 50 years since the establishment of Kumho Tire's Gwangju factory, economic ripple effects and case analyses related to either relocating or maintaining the factory, and surveys on residents' perceptions.
On the day of the forum, Gwangsan-gu plans to inform residents about the progress of the research service and collect a wide range of opinions on the development of the Gwangju Songjeong Station area.
Park Byung-gyu, mayor of Gwangsan-gu, stated, "The Gwangju Songjeong Station area is emerging as a key hub for future development that will transform not only the gateway of Gwangju but also Gwangsan-gu and the entire city." He added, "I hope this public forum will serve as a starting point to secure the driving force for a major change led by citizens."
