Pyeongtaek City Takes Initiative to Foster Future Car Parts Industry

Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is launching efforts to foster the parts industry with the goal of becoming a future automobile hub.
On the 24th, Pyeongtaek City held a parts companies council inauguration ceremony and a future automobile industry forum at the KOTITI Testing & Research Institute Cheongbuk E-Mobility Center to create a robust ecosystem for the future automobile industry.

Hosted by Pyeongtaek City and organized by the Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency, the forum was attended by over 100 industry, academia, and research institute representatives who explored ways to nurture the related industry under the theme "Changes in the Future Automobile Parts Ecosystem and Business Restructuring."
At the forum, Lee Hang-gu, President of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, delivered a keynote speech titled "Transition to Future Automobiles and Growth Directions for Local Companies," emphasizing the importance of strengthening the mobility manufacturing base and securing workforce. Following this, Lee Jeong-cheol, Senior Researcher at KGM, presented on "Development of Eco-friendly Mobility in the Era of Energy Transition," Lee Seung-ho, Executive Director of Strategic Development at Obigo, spoke on "Utilization and Application of SDV Technology for Future Vehicle Transition," and Choi Jae-hyun, CEO of DH Autoread, gave a presentation titled "Diversification and Opportunities in the Parts Supply Chain of the Complete Vehicle Industry."
Prior to the forum, the parts companies council inauguration ceremony included briefings on future automobile industry promotion plans by Pyeongtaek City, the Korea Automotive Research Institute, and the KOTITI Testing & Research Institute, followed by a dialogue with businesspeople.
Jung Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, stated, "Pyeongtaek is home to Pyeongtaek Port, Korea's top automobile import-export port, and is at the center of the automobile industry axis extending to Siheung, Ansan, Hwaseong, Cheonan, and Asan. We will do our best to establish Pyeongtaek as a future automobile industry hub in cooperation with neighboring local governments."
