A woman who walked the streets of a busy area in Seoul naked with a box over her head was later revealed to have been prosecuted on charges of purchasing the drug ketamine.
According to the prosecution on the 24th, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 24 (Judge Yoo Dong-gyun) held the second trial session last month on the 24th for Ms. A, who was indicted on charges under the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances). The next trial is scheduled for November 12.

Ketamine is used medically as an anesthetic, but when abused, it causes hallucinations and is classified as a narcotic. During the past 'Burning Sun' incident, ketamine was abused in some clubs around Gangnam, Seoul, and was called a 'club drug.'
Ms. A caused controversy last year by walking naked with only a box covering her body in busy areas such as Hongdae in Mapo-gu and Apgujeong in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, between September and October. At that time, she was also prosecuted on charges of public obscenity for inducing passersby to put their hands inside the box she was wearing and touch her body parts.

At the first trial held last month, Ms. A's side admitted the facts but denied the charges, stating, "Considering the defendant's appearance at the time, the exposed body parts, the degree of exposure, and the motive of the act, it cannot be regarded as obscene behavior." The sentencing trial for the public obscenity charge against Ms. A is scheduled for the 24th.
