Qualcomm and Google Jointly Develop Generative AI Car Digital Cockpit... "Strategic Long-term Collaboration"
"Snapdragon Digital Chassis - AAOS Integration"
"Gemini Nano Edge AI Technology Applied"
Qualcomm and Google have agreed to collaborate on developing a generative artificial intelligence (AI)-based in-vehicle cockpit solution. They plan to create a vehicle solution that combines Qualcomm's application processor (AP) Snapdragon Digital Chassis with Google's AI model Gemini Nano technology.
On the 23rd, Qualcomm announced that it has entered into a strategic long-term partnership with Google to develop a generative AI-based in-vehicle cockpit solution.
The two companies will combine Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Google Android Automotive OS, and Google Cloud technologies to develop a standardized new reference platform required for generative AI-based cockpit solutions.
Google's AI model Gemini Nano will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon heterogeneous edge AI system-on-chip (SoC). Heterogeneous computing refers to a system that uses one or more processors or cores. Additionally, Qualcomm's AI Studio SDK optimizes memory, power, and performance of edge devices by leveraging the Qualcomm AI Orchestrator.
The generative AI-supported digital cockpit development framework from both companies provides a user-customized and responsive voice interface based on a real-time upgradeable automotive-grade framework. The pre-integrated software of the Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and Google's Gemini Nano features are implemented through the Snapdragon SoC.
Furthermore, the two companies have created an integrated framework to develop software-defined vehicles (SDV) equipped with 'car-to-cloud' infrastructure. Vehicle software development hosted on Google Cloud is optimized for the Snapdragon platform, shortening the development period for AAOS platforms and services.
