Korea-Malaysia Hold 5th Official FTA Negotiations... Discussions on Goods, Services, Digital, and Bio Sectors
The 5th official negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Korea and Malaysia will be held in Seoul from the 22nd to the 25th.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Trade Negotiation Headquarters announced on the 22nd that a delegation of about 60 representatives from both countries will participate in the negotiations, led by Korea's Chief FTA Negotiator Kwon Hye-jin and Malaysia's Director General of the Negotiation Strategy Division at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Sumadi Balakrishnan, respectively. The negotiations will seek progress in a total of 13 sectors including goods, services, investment, rules of origin, economic cooperation, digital, and bio.
Since declaring the resumption of Korea-Malaysia FTA negotiations in March, the two countries held the 4th official negotiations in August this year in Kuala Lumpur. In the 5th negotiations, they plan to accelerate sector-specific discussions and resolve mutual differences based on the previous negotiation outcomes.
