On the 24th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to Host 'Museum and Art Gallery Expo'
An exhibition promoting museums and art galleries and reviewing related industry trends will be held.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 21st that the 'Museum and Art Gallery Expo' will take place at BEXCO in Busan from the 24th to the 27th. The event will feature high-quality special exhibitions, immersive content displays, and educational and experiential programs. Minister Yoon In-chon stated, "This will be an opportunity to reduce cultural disparities between regions and further enrich the creativity and imagination of local artists."
The most notable special exhibition is 'Collector's Room.' It is a space honoring the insight and achievements of collectors dedicated to the development of museums, such as the late Lee Byung-chul, chairman of Samsung, painter Kim Whanki, and Kansong Jeon Hyeongpil. The exhibition reexamines artifacts and paintings they cherished, including the Hunminjeongeum Haerye manuscript and jar artworks. Six leading domestic museums and art galleries are participating: Hoam Art Museum, Whanki Museum, Kansong Art Museum, Onyang Folk Museum, Horim Museum, and Emille Museum.
Another highlight is 'Classics: A Source of Inspiration,' which reinterprets old works by contemporary artists. This exhibition showcases the modern transformation of traditional art through works by eleven artists, including Shin Mikyung, Lee Sookyung, and Heo Sangwook.
'K-Museum Curation' is also a must-see. It offers a comprehensive view of representative works in various fields such as crafts, costumes, calligraphy, and sculpture. A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official said, "Two stage costumes worn by BTS during their actual performances will also be on display."
The National Museum of Korea and others will continuously exhibit immersive content. Engaging and spectacular content such as 'Peony Flower,' 'The King's Procession,' and '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' will captivate visitors' attention.
