Yeongju City Boxing, Wushu, Roller, and Cycling Teams Win 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 4 Bronze Medals at National Sports Festival

Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk reaffirmed its status as a ‘sports city’ with a continuous medal streak, including cyclist Park Jun-seon (3rd year at Yeongju Jeil High School) achieving a triple crown at the ‘105th National Sports Festival’.
The city reported on the 18th that the boxing, wushu, roller, and cycling teams won 4 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals at this year’s National Sports Festival held in Gyeongnam from the 11th to the 17th.

View original imageIn the boxing team, athlete Shin Jae-yong (men’s bantamweight) proved the results of rigorous training by winning the gold medal with a 5-0 decision victory over Lee Haeng-seok from the Armed Forces Sports Unit in the final match.
The wushu team concluded the National Sports Festival by adding two bronze medals, won by Park Geun-woo (Changquan) and Park Je-hyun (Sanda).
In the student division, roller team members Na Do-yeon and Won Tae-yeon (Korea International Culinary High School) from the Gyeongbuk Combined Boys’ High School team won a silver medal in the 3000m relay, while Jo Hae-in (Korea International Culinary High School) from the Gyeongbuk Combined Girls’ High School team also earned a bronze medal in the 3000m relay. Kim Na-hyun (middleweight) from the boxing team of Mirae Industry High School also contributed to the Yeongju delegation by winning a silver medal.
Notably, Park Jun-seon of Yeongju Jeil High School’s cycling team won gold medals in the 1km time trial and individual sprint, and also took gold in the team sprint alongside Yoon Seok-hyun and Lee Kyu-bin, achieving a triple crown at the competition.
