View original imagePresident Yoon Suk-yeol attended the 'National Members Convention of the Barun Living Movement' held in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, on the afternoon of the 17th, emphasizing that "the four major reforms are an urgent and critical task" and stating, "Although there is much resistance and difficulty, we will definitely complete them."
In his congratulatory speech that day, President Yoon said, "The four major reforms?pension reform, labor reform, education reform, and medical reform?are urgent and critical tasks for the sustainable development of the nation. Despite much resistance and difficulty, we will definitely complete them," adding, "I hope the members of the Barun Living Movement will lend their support."
He also explained, "We are now facing a period of great transformation more important than ever before. With the advancement of cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), opportunities and challenges lie ahead, and provocations and threats from North Korea, as well as global complex crises threatening security and the economy, continue."
President Yoon emphasized, "In addition to social challenges such as the population crisis, the continuous spread of fake news is threatening liberal democracy. The three core spirits of the Barun Living Movement?truth, order, and harmony?are more important than ever."
He further stated, "We will devote efforts to vigorously boost our economy and ensure that the warmth of growth spreads to every corner of people’s livelihoods. We will strongly promote welfare for the vulnerable to take better care of those in difficulty."
The Barun Living Movement is a national civic movement organization practicing the three core spirits of truth, order, and harmony. Founded in 1989, it is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. President Yoon became the first sitting president to attend the Barun Living Movement’s National Members Convention for two consecutive years, encouraging members and congratulating the event.
Recognizing contributions to national unity movements and volunteer activities, President Yoon awarded medals and commendations to 13 individuals, including Jwajungeon, Chairman of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Council (Order of Civil Merit, Moran Medal), Yoon Jang-hoon, Honorary Chairman of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Council (Order of Civil Merit, Dongbaek Medal), and Kim Sang-dong, Senior Vice Chairman of the Chungcheongbuk-do Council (Order of Civil Merit, Mokryeon Medal).
The members stood up and performed a chant embodying the three core ideals of truth, order, and harmony, proclaiming slogans such as "Eradicate False Propaganda," "Lead Law-Abiding Awareness," and "Contribute to National Unity."

At the event, Kim Sang-hoon, Chairman of the Central Council, and chairpersons of metropolitan and provincial councils nationwide, totaling over 8,000 members, attended. Also present were Lee Sang-min, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety; Kim Jin-tae, Governor of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province; Kim Si-sung, Chairman of the Provincial Council; Kim Hong-gyu, Mayor of Gangneung; Shim Kyu-eon, Mayor of Donghae; Park Sang-su, Mayor of Samcheok; and Kang Seok-ho, President of the Korea Freedom Federation.
