Gapyeong-gun Temporarily Opens Former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute During Autumn Foliage Season
Open for 3 Weeks from the 21st... Expected Positive Response from Locals and Tourists
Gapyeong-gun will temporarily open the former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute for three weeks starting from the 21st to celebrate the autumn foliage season.
Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 17th that the former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute will be temporarily opened for three weeks starting from the 21st to coincide with the autumn foliage season. This is the second time this year that the site is being opened to residents and tourists, following the cherry blossom season.
The former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, located in Cheongpyeong, became a local attraction with over 12,000 visitors during its brief 14-day opening last cherry blossom season. As the number of visitors steadily increased, it has gained attention as a resting place for local residents and a new tourist destination for outsiders.
Since the Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute relocated to Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province in 2021, the site has remained intact but has not been open to the public on a regular basis. Residents have been requesting the relevant authorities to open the former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute permanently to revitalize the local economy.
Reflecting the opinions of local residents, the county has been temporarily opening the former Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute in spring and autumn since last year and has been proposing permanent opening to the related institutions.
