Bank of Korea Announces Winners of 'Financial Economic Law Research Paper Competition'
The Bank of Korea announced on the 17th the winners of the '2024 Financial Economic Law Research Paper Contest' held for university (graduate) students and financial sector workers.
This contest has been held annually since 2014 to promote interest and research atmosphere regarding central banking and financial economic legislation.
After evaluation by internal and external experts, a total of 4 papers were selected as outstanding papers (1 grand prize, 1 excellence prize, and 2 encouragement prizes) out of 18 submissions.
The grand prize was awarded to "A Study on Improvement Measures of the SPAC System" (co-authored by Kwon Da-eun, Kim Yoon-soo, Kim Jae-min, and Woo Seung-eun, Seoul National University Law School).
The excellence prize went to "A Study on Regulatory Measures for Restricted Stock Units (RSU)" (co-authored by Lee Tae-hyung, Kim Hae-won, Sung Kyu-ryun, and Hwang Jae-min, Seoul National University Law School), and the encouragement prizes were awarded to "A Legislative Improvement Plan for Expanding Directors' Duty of Loyalty" (co-authored by Lee Dong-yeop, Kim Do-hyung, Kim Jin-soo, and Lee Yoo-jin, Seoul National University Law School) and "A Study on Regulatory Measures for Prepaid Electronic Payment Instruments under the Principle of Same Function, Same Regulation" (co-authored by Shim Jae-wook, Son Min-ji, Jung Yoo-shin from Seoul National University Law School, and Lee Sang-min from Seoul National University Graduate School of Economics).

Winners will receive a certificate from the Governor along with a monetary prize, and will be given preferential treatment in document screening when applying for new employee (G5) recruitment at the Bank of Korea for the next five years. The winning papers will be published in a collection.
