Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has approved a total of 146 books as a result of the review and development of Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education recognized books according to the 2022 revised curriculum, and decided to distribute them to schools nationwide.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Tae-hee) announced on the 16th that it has approved a final total of 146 books as Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education recognized books following the 2022 revised curriculum, and plans to distribute them to schools nationwide.
The Office of Education is the largest institution in the country developing recognized books for the 2022 revised curriculum. This development project involved 34 publishers, 2 universities, and 400 review committee members.
The review and development of these recognized books went through processes including ▲the announcement of the recognized book review implementation in January 2023 ▲the establishment of compilation guidelines and recognition criteria for each book in April of the same year ▲the appointment of nationwide review committee members through a public recruitment process. Subsequently, from January to August this year, a total of 146 books were finally approved as Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education recognized books based on the development and review results.
The main approved books include ▲32 titles such as Middle School Art 1 and 2, and Practical Japanese ▲71 general high school subjects including Basic English 1 and 2 ▲43 specialized subjects including Fundamentals of Smart City, totaling 146 books. Among these, 30 books were developed internally by the Office of Education.
The Office of Education actively communicated and collaborated with publishers, compilation institutions, and publishing agencies with the goal of ‘developing high-quality textbooks.’ Additionally, it operated the recognized book review committee based on the principle of ‘fair and transparent review’ to enhance the completeness and reliability of the recognized books.
Schools select recognized books after reviewing a total of 911 display copies approved by the superintendents of education from 17 cities and provinces, including the 146 Gyeonggi Provincial Superintendent of Education recognized books. After deliberation by the school operation committee, orders can be placed through the Education Administration Information System (NEIS), and the books will be available for use in schools starting March of the 2025 academic year.
