'Drunk Driving' Presidential Office Administrator Receives Summary Order with 8 Million Won Fine

A senior administrative officer at the Presidential Office was fined 8 million won for driving under the influence at a level warranting license cancellation.
On the 16th, Judge Kim Byung-il of the Seoul Western District Court Summary Division 9 issued a summary order fining 8 million won to senior administrative officer A of the Presidential Office, who was charged with violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
A summary order is a procedure that imposes fines or penalties without a trial. The party receiving the summary order can file a formal trial within one week after receiving the summary order document if they wish to appeal.
A is accused of drunk driving around 9:50 p.m. on June 7 in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. A’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at the license cancellation level (0.08% or higher). The prosecution filed a summary indictment against A on August 1, seeking a fine of 8 million won.
