On the 16th, the county held a regular briefing by the Urban Transportation Division at the county office briefing room, announcing that it would spearhead the creation of a pleasant residential environment by steadily promoting various projects such as the construction of urban planned roads and the expansion of public parking lots in response to residents' needs.
This year, the county is investing 1.39 billion KRW in local funds to improve residents' mobility, renovating a total of five urban planning facilities, adding 364 meters of roads and 154.5 meters of sidewalks, and taking the lead in improving traffic flow in densely populated residential areas.
Among these, four projects have been completed: the construction of Soro 2-73 (next to Hanjoo Apartment, 57m), the construction of a sidewalk on Soro 1-77 (from Jugong Intersection to Wangguk Hall, 154.5m), the construction of Soro 2-71 (Banseok Ace 6th Complex, 61m), and the construction of Soro 2-69 (Samsung Villa 3rd Complex, 70m). The construction of Jungno 1-8 (Pyeongcheon 3 Apartment section, 176m) is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
The public parking lot construction project is also being promoted simultaneously.
Expanding parking spaces is a continuous effort by the county, and this year, it achieved the creation of a total of 136 new parking spaces at four locations: Sakseon 5-ri (around Haesong Apartment, 32 spaces), Nammun 5-ri (around Jinhung Apartment, 27 spaces), Dongmun 5-ri (around Greenaebil, 37 spaces), and Nammun 1-ri (around Taean Girls' High School, 40 spaces).
This has been evaluated as greatly improving not only parking convenience for nearby residents and visitors but also the residential environment. Based on this year's achievements, the county plans to continue with road construction and public parking lot expansion projects next year as well.
The county also plans to complete the "Taean-eup Historic and Cultural Street (Jungno 3-37)," a key pledge project of the 8th popularly elected administration, by next year. With a total project budget of 6.7 billion KRW, the main goal is to create a 204-meter-long historic and cultural landscape road from Jungang-ro Square to Gyeongijeong, which is expected to improve pedestrian safety and enhance the city's appearance through underground utility projects.
Regarding parking lot construction, the county has begun a study this year to assess the current status of parking supply and safety management within the county, which is scheduled for completion in November. Based on the results, the county will establish a supply plan tailored to the parking demand in each town and district and will proceed with phased projects starting next year.
In addition, the county is committed to ensuring the smooth progress of the ongoing public parking lot construction project in Wonbuk-myeon (20 spaces) and the project scheduled to begin next year in Iwon-myeon (100 spaces), aiming to improve convenience for residents and tourists in the northern region.
Furthermore, the county is determined to create a convenient and pleasant residential environment by adjusting public parking fees?which are currently at 43% of the average for cities and counties in Chungcheongnam-do?to a more realistic level for sound operation, strictly enforcing illegal parking regulations, and focusing on building a safe traffic environment.
Lee Hocheol, head of the Urban Transportation Division, stated, "We will do our utmost to establish safe traffic order in cooperation with the residents by rapidly implementing projects to increase public satisfaction and continuously encouraging voluntary reports of illegal parking," adding, "We will continue to do our best to expand transportation infrastructure that prioritizes the convenience and safety of our residents."
