With the arrival of the full-fledged autumn season, a variety of festivals are being held in Taean-gun, Chungnam, where visitors can experience beautiful tourist attractions and unique sights.

Taean-gun announced that from October to November, a wide range of events will take place throughout the region, including the "Solhyanggigil Festival," "Taean Street Festival," "Taean Chrysanthemum Festival," "Korea Dune Festival," and "Hagampo Red Sunset Festival."

◆ "Filled with the Scent of the Sea and Pine" - The 10th Solhyanggigil Festival

This festival allows visitors to enjoy Solhyanggigil, Taean-gun's renowned walking trail, and will be held on the 20th at Kkujinamugol Beach (Course 1) in Naeri, Iwon-myeon. There will be a variety of events such as Solhyanggigil trekking, "Golden Pinecone Hunt," and tidal flat fishing experiences, as well as performances by guest singers and singing contests, offering plenty of fun for all.

Solhyanggigil is a walking trail where visitors can feel the traces of volunteers from the 2007 oil spill incident, and enjoy the open West Sea and lush pine forests. It is also part of the "Seohaerang-gil," the Taean section of the "Korea Dulle-gil" trail network.

◆ "A Grand Festival of Unity and Communication for Residents" - 2024 Taean Street Festival

First held in 2002, this is Taean's representative festival, designed to revitalize the old downtown commercial district and bring the community together. It will take place over two days, November 2-3, along Jungang-ro and the traditional market in Taean-eup, featuring a variety of food stalls, busking performances, celebratory concerts, and more for participants to enjoy.

Each area will feature unique events such as busking, traditional plays, and photo exhibitions, as well as experiential programs like a silver fashion show, treasure hunt, and "Find the Best Restaurant."

◆ "Savor the Autumn Atmosphere of Taean" - Flowers and Sea at the Taean Chrysanthemum Festival

This event, held annually since 2013 and beloved by tourists, takes place at the birthplace of Lee Jongil, a member of the 33 national representatives of the March 1st Movement and founder of the all-Hangeul daily newspaper "Jeguk Sinmun" in 1898, adding special meaning to the festival. From October 25 to November 3, visitors can enjoy chrysanthemums and various sculptures.

This year, themed gardens such as the Lake Garden, Memory Garden, History Garden, and Walking Garden will be created, along with various traditional games and hands-on activities to provide precious memories. On the opening day, performances by popular singers such as Song Daegwan, Yang Hyunkyung, and Namsan will also be highlights.

◆ "The Mystery of Nature Created by Time and Wind" - Korea Dune Festival

This is an eco-tourism festival where visitors can experience the wonders of Sinduri Coastal Dune in Wonbuk-myeon, designated as a natural monument. With exotic scenery found nowhere else in Korea, it is considered one of Taean's top travel destinations.

This year, visitors can enjoy healing time through a coastal dune walking contest and a 2km eco-trail walk. There will also be ecological lectures, various hands-on events (such as making sand-scented candles and time capsules), and performances (including dance and indie bands), offering a diverse program.

There will be a red sunset photo exhibition, beach song festival, hands-on experiences such as catching clams, whelks, and starfish, and barehanded conger eel catching, providing a variety of family-friendly activities.

In addition to performances by guest and local singers and dance teams, there will also be a tour of Jangansatae, the "Maldives of Korea" and a mysterious island that appears only two or three times a month (on a first-come, first-served basis), attracting much interest.

In addition, Taean-gun will hold the "2024 Taean Autumn Flower Expo" at Anmyeondo Kkotji Coastal Park until November 4, and the "Pampas Festival" at Cheongsan Arboretum in Nam-myeon until November 30, with various events taking place throughout the region.

An official from the county said, "Taean-gun is not only home to 27 beaches but also offers a wealth of unique tourist attractions, making it a leading destination on the West Coast with many visitors year-round. We hope many people will visit the festivals held throughout the region this autumn and fully enjoy the charm of Taean in the fall."
