The First Korean Director Appointed at the Green Climate Fund... "Contributing to Efficiency Improvement"
A Korean has become the first to hold a senior position at the Green Climate Fund (GCF), an international organization supporting developing countries' responses to climate change.
On the 13th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that Kim Hyun-jung, Director of the Personnel and Organizational Culture Division, will begin working at the GCF starting the 14th. Among the 352 GCF employees, Koreans account for 65 (18.4%), indicating a high proportion, but this is the first time a Korean has been appointed to a senior position at the director level or above.
Director Kim Hyun-jung has built expertise in personnel and organizational culture across various companies, including large corporations and startups, by working for over 20 years in strategy, planning, human resources, and organizational culture at LG Electronics, Johnson & Johnson, and Woowa Brothers.
She has accumulated business experience in diverse regions such as the United States, Europe, and Asia while working at Johnson & Johnson in the U.S., Johnson & Johnson Asia Headquarters in Singapore, and Woowa-Delivery Hero Asia Headquarters.
Since the appointment of Executive Secretary Mafalda Duarte last year, the GCF has pursued organizational restructuring and cultural improvements to enhance efficiency. Against this backdrop, Director Kim’s extensive experience in personnel and organizational matters appears to have led to her appointment as Director of the Personnel and Organizational Culture Division. The GCF expects her experience to contribute to improving the Fund’s efficiency.
