Seoul City Signs MOU on Public Transportation Innovation with Six Cities Including Banjul, Gambia
Including Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, and others
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with six overseas cities, including Banjul in The Gambia, to innovate public transportation.
On the morning of the 11th, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon met with Roy Malik Lowe, Mayor of Banjul, The Gambia, and pledged this cooperation. Following Banjul, agreements were also signed with Tema in Ghana, Mombasa in Kenya, Paynesville in Liberia, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, and Itapetininga in Brazil.

The MOUs were signed through the Smart Life Week (SLW) event held at COEX since the previous day. Among the SLW participating cities, these six cities that wished to benchmark Seoul’s transportation innovation model were prioritized for agreements.
Through this agreement, the city plans to collaborate with these cities by sharing key technologies such as the Bus Management System (BMS) and Bus Information System (BIS), and provide multifaceted support to solve each city’s transportation issues.
Additionally, Seoul will offer customized transportation solutions tailored to the characteristics and needs of these six cities, promising long-term partnerships and continuing cooperation to improve transportation infrastructure. The city will form working groups for each city to explore specific cooperation plans and begin designing tailored projects.

Mayor Oh said, "With this memorandum of understanding, we will actively share Seoul’s advanced public transportation system and operational know-how with overseas cities seeking public transportation innovation," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation and support for building sustainable public transportation systems and solving global transportation challenges."
