The Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kim Myung-su) has appointed ethics review advisory committee members to enhance the integrity of its legislative activities.
The Gwangsan District Council Ethics Review Advisory Committee was first established in October 2022 following the full revision of the Local Autonomy Act, which mandated its installation, and has been active since then. The committee has been newly formed this time due to the expiration of the previous members' terms.
At the appointment ceremony, five private experts from various fields including academia, the legal profession, the media, and civil society organizations were appointed as committee members.
During their two-year terms, the members will be responsible for roles such as advising on conflicts of interest and profit-making activities of local council members, compliance with the council members' code of ethics and ethical practice standards, and disciplinary consultations.
