Yangju City Conducts '2024 Joint Inspection and Monitoring of No-Smoking Zones'
Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 8th that it will conduct the "2024 Joint Inspection and Guidance of No-Smoking Areas" from the 14th to November 22nd, coinciding with the joint inspection period for no-smoking zones.
The city explained that it has organized three joint inspection teams, including no-smoking officers and inspectors from the city health center, to carry out this inspection and guidance.
The inspection targets a total of 10,090 locations, including 8,159 no-smoking areas designated under the National Health Promotion Act and 1,931 no-smoking areas designated by Yangju City ordinances, with plans to inspect more than 10% of these sites.
The inspection items include ▲ enforcement against smoking (including e-cigarettes) within no-smoking areas ▲ whether signs or stickers indicating the entire facility is a no-smoking area are posted ▲ compliance with standards for the installation of smoking rooms (smoking areas) within facilities ▲ compliance with standards for the installation of cigarette vending machines.
This inspection will focus on promoting and guiding no-smoking areas, but fines will be imposed immediately if violations are found.

A city official stated, "Through the joint inspection and guidance of no-smoking areas in public facilities, we will do our best to establish a no-smoking culture that creates a pleasant environment free of tobacco smoke in the community and contributes to protecting citizens' health."
