Choo Kyung-ho: "Lawmaker Openly Encourages Illegal Activity"
On the 8th, the People Power Party criticized the Democratic Party of Korea, which plans to reintroduce special investigation bills for First Lady Kim Keon-hee and Chae Sang-byeong and also push for a permanent special prosecutor, calling it a "reckless rush of special investigations."
At a National Assembly inspection countermeasure meeting held that morning, Floor Leader Choo Kyung-ho stated, "The Democratic Party is reintroducing the special investigation bills for First Lady Kim Keon-hee and Chae Sang-byeong and is using the trick of revising the National Assembly rules to push for a permanent special prosecutor," claiming it is an attempt to seize investigative and prosecutorial powers.
Earlier, the Democratic Party proposed a revision to the National Assembly rules that would prevent the ruling party from participating in the candidate recommendation committee for the permanent special prosecutor investigating illegal acts involving the president and their family.
Floor Leader Choo said, "Excluding the ruling party from recommending special prosecutors directly contradicts the purpose of the permanent special prosecutor law, which specifies the political and professional independence of special prosecutor recommendation members," adding, "The opposition party intends to monopolize investigative and prosecutorial powers and control the special prosecutor's investigative authority." He continued, "The current rules on recommending permanent special prosecutors were first proposed by the Democratic Party in 2014 and created through bipartisan agreement. Changing them now at the Democratic Party's discretion is an abnormal trick with obvious ulterior motives."

During the previous day’s National Assembly inspection of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Jong-gun pointed out the issue of false used car listings with unclear seller information and revealed that Minister Park Sang-woo’s official vehicle was listed for sale on the used goods trading site 'Danggeun Market.'
Lawmaker Kim Jun-hyung of the Innovation Party displayed a level 3 confidential diplomatic document from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs titled "Message Transmission on the 2030 Busan World Expo Situation" on a large screen.
Floor Leader Choo criticized, "No matter how much one wants attention during the inspection, there are minimum standards to uphold," adding, "It is an open encouragement of illegal acts by a lawmaker during a live broadcast of the inspection on TV."
