'Betrayal of Trust and Embezzlement' Former Ourhome Vice Chairman Gubonseong Receives Suspended Prison Sentence, Both Parties Appeal
Former Ourhome Vice Chairman Gu Bonseong (67), who was indicted on charges including embezzling billions of won of company funds, appealed the first trial verdict after both the prosecution and the defendant expressed dissatisfaction with the suspended prison sentence.

On the 6th, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office submitted an appeal on the 30th of last month against the first trial verdict that sentenced former Vice Chairman Gu, who was indicted without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (breach of trust), embezzlement, and breach of trust in the course of business, to two years in prison with a three-year suspension.
It is also known that Gu's defense attorney submitted an appeal on the 2nd.
Gu was indicted on charges of purchasing gift certificates worth several hundred million won for personal use over about four years starting from July 2017 during his tenure as CEO, and pocketing performance bonuses worth about 2 billion won regardless of business performance during the same period. He is also accused of paying land property tax and comprehensive real estate tax for land in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, using company funds.
In response, Ourhome conducted an internal audit in November 2021, identified signs of embezzlement and breach of trust by Gu, and filed a complaint with the police. The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul transferred him to the prosecution in July 2022, and the Southern District Prosecutors' Office indicted him without detention in September last year.

Earlier, the Criminal Division 14 of the Seoul Southern District Court (Presiding Judge Jang Seonghun) sentenced former Vice Chairman Gu, who was indicted without detention on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, to two years in prison with a three-year suspension on the 25th of last month.
