This visit was arranged to check the implementation status of government measures aimed at supporting small business owners and self-employed individuals facing difficulties, starting with the 'Comprehensive Measures for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed' announced last July, followed by the 'Response Plan for the Timf Incident,' 'Chuseok Livelihood Stabilization Measures,' 'Recent Domestic Economy Inspection and Response Directions,' and 'Expansion Plan for Customized Financial Support for Vulnerable Groups such as Low-Income People.'
The government has allocated a budget of 5.9 trillion KRW in next year's budget for supporting small business owners to overcome management crises and aid in business recovery. The financial support for small business owners according to management conditions has been expanded to 3.8 trillion KRW, and budgets for delivery and courier fee support (300,000 KRW annually) for micro small business owners and for expanding the issuance scale of Onnuri gift certificates have been reflected at 200 billion KRW and 400 billion KRW, respectively.
Deputy Prime Minister Choi urged, "Please thoroughly implement the measures announced by the relevant ministries," and added, "For key tasks such as electricity fee support, the financial support 'triple set,' and the New Start Fund, please closely monitor and supplement based on voices from the field." He particularly emphasized, "Bold debt restructuring through the New Start Fund and linking it with employment and re-startup processes is a representative task that effectively connects support policies across ministries, so related ministries should collaborate closely."
He also stated, "To alleviate the burden on small business owners related to delivery platforms, we will ensure that a reasonable win-win plan is derived within this month through the delivery platform and tenant company coexistence council."
Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced, "Starting next year, the scope of information provision on the one-stop platform for small business owners will be expanded to include projects from related ministries such as the Financial Services Commission and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and customized business searches and proactive notification services will be provided according to the conditions of each small business owner." Chairman Kim Byung-hwan of the Financial Services Commission said, "Following the expansion of the New Start Fund, we will carefully monitor to prevent delays in debt restructuring agreement conclusion due to an increase in applicants, and promptly complete inter-agency electronic linkage to verify preferential conditions for insolvent and closed businesses that have completed employment and re-startup processes, thereby enhancing user convenience."
