Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 2nd that free vaccinations for high-risk groups of COVID-19 will be conducted starting from the 11th of this month.
COVID-19, which has affected society as a whole, is now managed as an infectious disease that requires annual vaccination alongside the flu after the pandemic phase.
The high-risk groups eligible for free vaccination are ▲ those aged 65 and over ▲ immunocompromised individuals aged 6 months and older ▲ residents and inpatients of infection-vulnerable facilities.
Vaccinations for the elderly aged 65 and over will be conducted by starting dates according to age groups: ▲ 75 and older (October 11) ▲ 70 to 74 (October 15) ▲ 65 to 69 (October 18), in that order.
‘Immunocompromised individuals aged 6 months and older’ and ‘residents and inpatients of infection-vulnerable facilities’ can receive vaccinations starting October 11, along with those aged 75 and older.
Eligible individuals can receive vaccinations at designated medical institutions nationwide regardless of their address, and the ‘designated medical institutions located in Dongdaemun-gu’ can be checked on the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center website (Health Plaza / Public Health Center News / Notices).
When visiting vaccination centers, it is essential to bring an ID and proof of immunocompromised status.
Although the start dates differ by target group, the end date for vaccinations is the same: April 30, 2025. General citizens who are not in the high-risk group can receive vaccinations for a fee at primary medical institutions.
A representative from the Dongdaemun-gu Public Health Center said, “Seniors aged 65 and over can receive COVID-19 and influenza vaccines simultaneously in one visit,” urging eligible individuals to actively participate in vaccination for a healthy winter.
