Yangju-si to Host Pet Culture Festival on October 13
Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 30th that it will hold the "2024 Yangju City Companion Animal Culture Festival" on October 13, aiming to take a leap forward as a pet-friendly city.
This festival is hosted by Yangju City, organized by Seojeong University (Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation), which operates the local Companion Animal Department, Companion Animal Health Department, and HiVE Center, and sponsored by the Korea Companion Animal Enterprise Association.
Since 2022, the city has been operating the "Yangju City Companion Animal Culture Class," and now aims to transform it into a festival format to reach more citizens and provide greater satisfaction to all pet owners, taking a step further toward establishing a proper companion animal culture.
The festival is scheduled to take place on October 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Seondol Neighborhood Park in Okjeong-dong. The main events include ▲ various experience booths (free health checkups for pets, behavior correction, basic grooming, etc.) ▲ promotional booths for pet-related companies ▲ citizen participation events (O/X quizzes, pet sports day, etc.) ▲ flea market and food truck operations ▲ prize draws.

A city official stated, "We hope this festival will be a significant step toward fulfilling the Yangju City Mayor's 8th term pledge to create a pet-friendly city, and that it will lead to an increase in the city's brand value through the cultivation of a mature companion animal culture."
