Gumi City, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that the 34th Gyeongbuk Provincial Residents' Sports Festival for All, held from the 27th to the 29th, was successfully concluded with enthusiastic participation and support from residents.
Approximately 10,000 athletes and residents from 22 cities and counties in North Gyeongsang Province participated in 23 events, engaging in intense competitions at various venues including the Park Chunghee Gymnasium.
The opening ceremony featured congratulatory performances by invited singers from the North Gyeongsang region and a sports pictogram performance. Food trucks provided a variety of food options for participants, while experience booths and the Gumi Love Gift Certificate giveaway event received a great response. Participants enjoyed various hands-on programs and contributed to the local economy by purchasing regional agricultural products and small business goods using the Gumi Love Gift Certificate.
During the event, the city prioritized the safety of participants and spectators by thoroughly inspecting venue facilities and establishing a comprehensive medical response system. Emergency medical staff and safety personnel were deployed, and traffic control and parking management measures were implemented to ensure the smooth operation of the event.
In particular, about 400 volunteers made dedicated contributions in various areas such as assisting with event operations, providing guidance, and managing safety, which greatly contributed to the smooth progress of the festival.
The city evaluated that this event served as an important opportunity to promote participation in sports for all among residents and to strengthen community bonds, and announced plans to continue organizing various events to revitalize sports for all and promote local economic development.
Mayor Kim Jangho said, "This festival was a valuable opportunity to foster the health and unity of our residents, and I am pleased that it concluded successfully without major issues," adding, "We will continue to do our best to promote sports for all and the development of the local economy."
