Israeli Forces Conduct Airstrikes in Eastern Lebanon... Hezbollah Attacks Intensify
Israel Attacks Hezbollah Headquarters the Previous Day
On the 28th (local time), the Israeli military continued its attacks on the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah by conducting airstrikes in eastern Lebanon.
According to AFP and others, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated in a press release that day, "We are attacking targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the Bekaa Valley region of eastern Lebanon." They added, "Air raid sirens sounded as Hezbollah attacked northern Israel."
Major foreign media reported that the Israeli military carried out airstrikes in mountainous areas, including the southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, and the village of Bamdoun southeast of Beirut, in the early morning hours.
Hezbollah also issued a statement around the same time claiming to have attacked Israel. Hezbollah said, "In response to Israel's attack, we launched Fadi-1 rockets at the Kabri kibbutz (collective farm) in northern Israel." Hezbollah claimed this attack was "to protect Lebanon and its people and to respond to Israel's barbaric attacks targeting civilians."
