33rd Songpa Resident Awards Presented by 'Korea National Sport University'
The Korea National Sport University located in Songpa-gu was honored with the 33rd Songpa Resident Award.
On the morning of the 27th, before the 24th Hansung Baekje Cultural Festival, Songpa-gu Mayor Seogang Seok proudly stated in his commemorative speech at the Olympic Peace Plaza Festival that the Korea National Sport University, the only comprehensive sports university in the country located in Oryun-dong, has won a total of 140 medals, including 56 gold medals at the Olympics.
He especially highlighted that Korea National Sport University athletes won 14 out of the total 32 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, explaining the reason for selecting them as the award recipient.
He also praised the awardees among the residents, including Park Hyunja, who cared for her late mother-in-law for 30 years, even assisting with toileting in her final years; Yang Sunok, who has cared for her 90-year-old widowed mother-in-law for 25 years; Shin Giseon, who has volunteered for 13,000 hours over 23 years; and the Neighborly Love Dental Volunteer Association, composed of 11 dental specialists who have provided dental medical services to people with disabilities for 25 years.

Additionally, exemplary youth Choi Haeun, musical students from Hallim Arts High School, Jung Yoonjae who has worked hard to revitalize resident autonomy, the Songpa-gu Choir which plays a major role in community harmony, Lee Jaegwang who has contributed greatly to the promotion of sports for the disabled, the Songpa-gu Symphony Orchestra which elevates local culture and arts, and the Songpa-gu Chamber of Commerce and Employment Jin who have significantly contributed to local economic revitalization were also awarded.
Along with this, the nonprofit organizations Hope Sharing Market and Serving and Sharing, who have consistently practiced love and sharing for vulnerable groups in the local community, were praised as true heroes of the local community in this era for their silent dedication and service.
