The beauty salon exclusively for people with disabilities, ‘Donghaeng Hair,’ opened on the 26th on the first floor of Dongmun Disabled Welfare Center (Janganbeotkkot-ro 7-gil 5) in Hwikyung-dong, Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung).
‘Donghaeng Hair’ is a specialized beauty salon for people with disabilities established by Dongdaemun-gu to enable those who have difficulty using regular beauty salons to conveniently groom their appearance and express their individuality.
Donghaeng Hair is operated by Dongmun Disabled Welfare Center under consignment, with one social worker and two professional beauticians on staff at all times. It is equipped with facilities such as an electric shampoo station, mobile lift, and customized beauty chairs to provide safer and more comfortable beauty services for people with disabilities.

Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security or lower-income groups can use the services at an additional 50% discount.
Operating six days a week except Saturdays, the salon serves registered disabled residents of Dongdaemun-gu from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only.
Those who wish to use the service should make a reservation in advance through the Dongmun Disabled Welfare Center website or by phone and visit with proof of disability registration and other supporting documents.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We named it ‘Donghaeng Hair’ to signify that Dongdaemun-gu will always be by your side,” adding, “Next year, we plan to designate four key beauty salons in the area as ‘disability-friendly beauty salons’ to enable more people with disabilities to receive beauty services.”
