Montenegro Minister of Justice: "Decision on Kwon Do-hyung's Extradition Country Soon"
Bojan Bozovic, Montenegro's Minister of Justice, expressed on the 24th (local time) his intention to promptly decide the country to which Kwon Do-hyung, a key figure in the 'Terra·Luna' incident, will be extradited.
Minister Bozovic appeared on Montenegro TV's morning program that day and said, "The decision will be made by the Ministry of Justice, and I expect a decision within a few days."
He added, "I do not want to prejudge the outcome. I have repeatedly emphasized that the decision on criminal extradition falls under the routine duties of the Ministry of Justice and that I do not want to create any special exceptions." He also said, "As soon as the decision is made, we will, of course, make it public."
Earlier, Montenegro's Supreme Court overturned the decision made by the lower court on the 19th to extradite Kwon to Korea and transferred the case itself to the Ministry of Justice. Accordingly, whether Kwon will be tried in Korea or the United States depends on Minister Bozovic's decision.
However, even if the extradition country is decided, it is uncertain whether Kwon's custody will be immediately transferred. If the result is not what Kwon's side desires, they may initiate an objection procedure in some form.
