Immediate Access to CCTV, Card, and Medical Records Enabled for Missing Child Investigations
The National Police Agency announced on the 25th that from the 27th onwards, it will be possible to receive information such as CCTV footage, credit and transportation card data, and medical treatment date and location when searching for and investigating missing children and others.
Previously, the warrant issuance process caused delays and limited timely searches and discoveries.
If a police station's request is unjustly refused, the offender may face imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won. If the received information is used for purposes other than intended, the penalty is imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won.

A National Police Agency official stated, “The time required to find missing persons has been significantly reduced, enabling faster securing of safety,” and added, “We will continue to identify and improve legal shortcomings.”
