Indonesian Officials Visit Ulsan to Learn About Tuberculosis
Ulsan City Invites 15 Indonesian Health Officials for Training
Education on Tuberculosis Management System and Latest Diagnostic Methods
Ulsan City, in cooperation with Choonhae College of Health Sciences, will host the "Indonesia Tuberculosis Management Capacity Building Training" by inviting 15 Indonesian public health officials from June 25 to October 4.
The participants of this training are respiratory and infectious disease specialists from the Indonesian Ministry of Health. They will learn about Korea's tuberculosis management system, the latest diagnostic methods, and treatment protocols at Choonhae College of Health Sciences, Ulju County Public Health Center, and University of Ulsan.
Indonesia has been implementing the Tuberculosis Eradication Initiative Program since 2021. However, as of 2022, Indonesia's tuberculosis incidence rate stood at 385 per 100,000 people, an 18% increase compared to 2015. This is significantly higher than the Asian regional average of 158.5 per 100,000 and Korea's 36 per 100,000.
Accordingly, the training will be conducted in Korea, which has advanced technology in tuberculosis management, treatment, and diagnosis, to strengthen Indonesia's capacity for tuberculosis control.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "Ulsan City is striving to strengthen its public health system to create a happy city where all hardworking citizens can be healthy," and added, "We hope that Indonesian public health officials will learn Ulsan's advanced medical system and tuberculosis treatment methods and make a significant contribution to improving Indonesia's public health environment."
