Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center to Strengthen Global Competitiveness of SMEs

Pohang City announced that the Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center is holding the Smart Manufacturing Forum at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) for two days from the 24th to the 25th.

View original imageThe 'Smart Manufacturing Forum' is an event where experts and businesspeople introduce smart manufacturing technologies and the latest trends, share successful case studies, and discuss how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can adopt and operate smart manufacturing systems effectively.
At the opening ceremony held on the 24th, Ju Youngsup, a former Administrator of the Small and Medium Business Administration and a distinguished professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of Engineering Practice, delivered a keynote speech on "Paradigm Revolution and Smart Manufacturing Innovation in the Era of Great Transformation."
Additionally, David Romero, a professor at Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico and a renowned contributor to the World Economic Forum (WEF), gave a special lecture on "Human-Centered Smart Manufacturing."
In particular, during the panel discussion session on "The Future of Manufacturing," leading figures from the robotics industry across the country engaged in passionate debates, while representatives from companies that have successfully implemented smart manufacturing technologies shared their best practices, resonating with the participants.
On the second day of the Smart Manufacturing Forum, the 25th, SME representatives from across the country will gather at the Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center for an introduction to the center and networking opportunities among participants.
In the afternoon of the 25th, participants will have the opportunity to experience operational processes in the fields of smart data, smart processes, and smart quality by utilizing 56 types of equipment, including UV measurement devices, installed within the center.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "The Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center has supported SMEs in strengthening their competitiveness by introducing smart manufacturing technologies through education and consulting," and added, "We will actively work to create a Pohang-style digital industrial innovation model by closely cooperating with the Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center through various educational programs and consulting such as SME Day and SME Week."
The Apple Manufacturing R&D Support Center is the world's first manufacturing-specialized R&D support center established by Apple in collaboration with Gyeongbuk Province, Pohang City, and POSTECH, and is helping solve the challenges faced by small and medium manufacturing companies by utilizing the latest smart manufacturing equipment.
It also operates an advanced special program called SME Week, providing free education and one-on-one consulting on smart manufacturing.
