Asan City Steps Up Efforts to Attract Second Central Police Academy
Citizen Promotion Council to Be Launched on the 24th
More than 20 social organizations in the Asan area held the launching ceremony of the "Citizens' Promotion Council for the Attraction of the 2nd Central Police Academy to Asan."
View original imageAsan City in South Chungcheong Province, which passed the first cutoff in the bid to attract the Second Central Police Academy, has officially entered the competition by launching a 'Pan-Citizen Promotion Council' led by local community organizations.
On the 24th, around 20 social organizations in Asan held an inaugural ceremony for the 'Pan-Citizen Promotion Council for Attracting the Second Central Police Academy.'
The council appointed Lee Byungcheon, Vice President of the Chungcheongnam-do Sports Association, Ji Youngseop, President of the Asan City Community Leaders Association, and Kim Dongsu, President of the Asan City Saemaeul Association, as co-chairs. They discussed information sharing and promotional activities to attract the Second Central Police Academy.
Lee Byungcheon, chair of the council, stated, "Citizens strongly support and cheer for the development of a specialized town for police educational institutions and the Polis Medical Town urban development project." He added, "Through various social organizations and councils, we will unite the power of the citizens to actively show that Asan City greatly welcomes and supports the police."
Meanwhile, the Second Central Police Academy is a large-scale educational facility that can accommodate about 5,000 trainees annually. On the 20th, after applications from 47 local governments nationwide, Asan, Yesan, and Namwon were selected as the three first-round candidate sites. The National Police Agency plans to select the final candidate site through a second (qualitative) evaluation by November.
