Police Send 70-Year-Old Taxi Driver Who Rushed Into National Medical Center Without Detention
A taxi driver in his 70s who caused an accident by rushing into the emergency room of the National Medical Center located in Jung-gu, Seoul, has been handed over to the prosecution.
On the 23rd, the Jungbu Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent taxi driver Mr. A (70) to the prosecution without detention on charges of injury under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling.
Mr. A is suspected of hitting pedestrians and four vehicles while making a U-turn to exit the parking lot after dropping off a passenger at the emergency room of the National Medical Center in July.
Police investigation confirmed that two pedestrians and two people inside the vehicles were injured. Mr. A was not seriously hurt.
Mr. A initially claimed sudden unintended acceleration of the vehicle but later retracted his statement, saying he was likely confused due to being flustered.
